“Good morning, Mom! Good morning, Dad!” said an unusually cheerful Betty to her parents.
“Morning, sweetie!” they replied.
“I made pancakes for you!” said Betty’s mother in a sing-song voice.
“Thanks!” said Betty as she collected 2 of them on a plate. She then took her seat at the dining table beside her father, who was reading in the business section of the “Moose Jaw Gazette” as he took occasional bites of a blueberry muffin.
As Betty finished up her pancakes, she noticed the front page of the national section of the “Moose Jaw Heights”. Normally, she didn’t bother with the news, but the headline and subtext were too appealing to her love of science-fiction to ignore.
“Alien in Vancouver?”
“Traces of possible alien found for 10th time in 2 weeks.”
Betty’s father noticed his daughter eyeing the paper on the table.
